That man’s weak appearance actually made her to let her guard down and feel pity. She vowed, the one who made him like this, she’ll pay him thousand, no, ten thousand times back! One of the better Shoujo reincarnation into ancient wuxia Chinese world series. There is one reason for it. The MC is OP as f**k, but she uses subversion to mess with people. Yeah, she doesn't go kill them, nor is she too weak to kill them. Its simply because its more entertaining for her (and us readers), that she ruins them by using brains over brawn. Yeah, she is one of the strongest people in the series, and she still screws with people using her tricks. And its fun. And... more>> entertaining.

If you want more action, or more romance, this probably isn't for you.

Romance (so far) has little role in this, and that is great. But the subversion and god tier trolling abilities of the MC are what make this great and a cut above the others. <<less

I shelved this novel for a very long time. I was skeptical about reading because of the comments. Well, I finally finished it and it's such a wreck.

1st of all, this author likes raping women a lot. It doesn't matter if you're a princess, a noble person or any antagonist, rest assured you'll be r*ped, worst of all gangbanged, before you die horribly. There's a lot of faceslapping but this author hates women. Meanwhile, the men persists (until they die, without a gruesome description) and are sometimes forgiven.

Also, there's a... more>> lot of in*est or fake-cest, the villains are dumb and have dumb ideas, a lot of one-sided love that gives you dumb ideas, and a lot of cheesy dialogue between the main leads.

My fave people in this novel is Wanyan Kang and Su Mei. They are interesting people and have dirty mouths. I'm giving it 3 stars for them. <<less

Agree with Lycpop's review. A very messed up story.

The last part made me throw up.

Spoiler

The guy\emperor of some kingdom who was in love with FL fell in love with her daughter years after. Like dude wottttt? Are you being serious? Kill me already. That little girl knew about his love for her mom and still loved him.

I'll be honest, although I've read plenty of Chinese novels and have had a novel updates account for quite some time, this is the first story that has enraged me to the point of me wanting to write a review on it. So far all the characters have been one dimensional.

Let me point out some of the issues I have with this story:

Spoiler
    1. Having an OP ML and FL is super common in the stories I've read but by the heavens does this story give me a brain aneurysm every time I have to read about whatever sort of bullsh*t OP thing the FL is doing at that time. I can forgive the FL for having multiple skills, be it doctor, poisons expert, jeweller, fashion designer, or whatever Barbie career she has, but like her fake humble act is just agonizing. Everything is fake about her public image and the ones in the know all kowtow down to her prowess. It's so one-sided, I can't ever imagine her developing genuine equal friendships. I haven't read far ahead enough to know about ML's OPness but that thing about him being a "War God" at 25 is a lot more believable than the FL gaining mastery in like 5+ skills, including chess, music, painting etc. in 5 years.
    1. The villains are so pitiful, I feel no tension at all. Are we supposed to enjoy the way they all underestimate the FL due to her constant faking to only be pwned in a couple chapters in the most brutal way possible? The way she deals with her female opponents seems like outright bullying. It's also super cringe at times, e.g. stabbing a maid during a party to use her blood as paint because the maid sabotaged her. I just can't take it seriously, it makes me want to laugh. "Wow, she is super bloodthirsty but it's also understandable because they all want to harm her and are idiotic enough to never stop going against her even when they are in front of super important delegates and all." I understand that the FL has this ability to make people act out on their inner urges but like in the end, they just get dealt with super quickly like cannon fodder. Such s*upid opponents don't give me any catharsis when they are dealt with. The future villainesses, I think, also share the same trait of being lovesick for the ML with straw for brains.
    1. The romance so far doesn't make sense. How??? Is every male character of high status around the FL's age falling in love with her after meeting for like a moment? Sure usually she shows off some of her hidden skill before they fall in love but the development just happens so quickly??? Especially her male cousin, he just notices that she is hiding her real personality during their first meeting and then he just falls in love??? She's even hiding her good looks like wtf. Even the ML. How?? Never even communicated with her but somehow, she becomes so loved enough that he promises to only ever have her as his wife and she doesn't even give him special treatment but he already wants to kill off all her other, 4 so far, pursuers. They are engaged by the way. She falls for him kinda quick too in my opinion? Like, her personality is supposed to be smart but she has no ideas about feelings and the ML finds it "cute and innocent" or whatever, but like she already had someone who pursued her in her last life and so, shouldn't she know if someone is interested in them? Especially cuz the ML is doting on her like crazy and already threatening his servants if they ever have doubts (valid doubts imo) about her.
    1. The story is boring. Usually I try to complete every story I've started reading, even if it's bad or even if the concept is like so awful, either because I love to hate read or because I love a particular character. But nothing in this story makes me want to continue. To be honest, some of it might be because reading it gives me confusion, i.e. which character is which, what country is this and that. But no one is likable. The ML is your stock standard only caring for the FL while being super OP (basically forgettable and interchangeable with other CN novel MLs of the BG or BL genre), the FL is a Mary Sue who doesn't seem really invested to her surroundings (she wants to bring her sect to prominence but I think she could have done that by forgetting her Murong Qi Qi identity and just staying as one of her other OP identities, i.e. what benefit does she get by keeping the charade of being a "rubbish" unloved daughter), the other characters are also boring and 1D, so far only Jin Mo (a doctor who dislikes the FL) and the Empress Dowager Dongfang seem interesting to me. The plot is eh, there is so much face slapping going on I don't know where the story is headed, it's already chapter 68 of a 208 chapter novel and I am still clueless.
[collapse]

Is there anything good about the story? For some they may feel some sort of enjoyment from reading this but for me... It's nice to make fun of how OP the FL is, you could make a drinking game out of all the times she triumphs over someone with her skills or green teaness.

So far, that is all I have to say. I'll probably try to complete this novel in the future only to satisfy my urge to complete everything I read but I'm giving this story a break because my brain is hurting from how vapid the female love rivals are and how supposedly everything is going according the FL's plans. I'd rather read Chongfei Manual again and I loathe it. <<less

I wanted to drop this novel multiple times but I was holding on to the hope that it will eventually get better, in the end I was quite disappointed. Honestly, I compared this with The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage (one of my all-time fave, btw) since the themes are quite similar so I was curious as to the development and the ending.

I say, a lot of the characters here are very obsessive about their 'love'. It's absurd how all their ideas revolve around this 'love'... more>> as if nothing else matter, with just some superficial feelings they are able to sacrifice everything. Not to mention how they easily change lanes with just one look and this also applied to matters other than 'love'.

I'm also not quite sold with how the FL and ML were depicted as perfect individuals while there were not enough narratives on how they were able to react that point, just like how the FL became an expert in a variety of fields all at once in just a few years. At the same time, even though the ML was cold, an expert in martial arts and was considered cursed, I don't think his character is 'demon' enough to be given this title. Well, this might be due to the fact that he's too smitten with the FL right from the onset.

As to the development of the storyline, I think it's quite inconsistent since sometimes it's slow-paced while there are also times where it's very fast-paced with every big scenes happening in a chapter. Not to mention, some details are just too unbelievable for me, like how a child at a very very young age is already infatuated over someone.

Well, these are all my opinion. This one might be in the bottom part of my list for the novels of the same genre.

If I have to choose my fave part of this novel,
Spoiler

it would be the side story for MYC. Disregarding the fact that the age gap is too big, he deserve this much. He might be one of the very few decent characters in the novel.

It was a good read~

Just the right amount of Palace drama and plotting to make the series realistic but not too confusing.

It's like a more leasure version of "Eight Treasure Trousseau". But with more fluff.

Honestly for me, this is not as bad as other's say but I can't say it's outstanding either. MC is Mary Sue and ML is Gary Stu. Both are almost perfect at many aspects. MC (Feng Qi Qi) is claimed to be the most beautiful woman in the world. She's skilled at martial arts, medicine, jewelry and clothes design, etc. ML (Feng Cang) is handsome like an immortal and famous for being a war God). Almost every man/woman will be in love with MC/ML after meeting them and burn with... more>> jealousy after seeing their intimacy.

What I love about this novel:

Spoiler

Everyone around MC and ML get their own happy ending in the end, including Ming Yue Cheng (ML's love rival). I love MYC's character. He loves MC unconditionally and never marry for real for MC. For me, he deserves happy ending the most. Although it's a bit weird he ends up being together with FQQ and FC's daughter, but I'm still happy for them. 26 age years age difference is not much because many man still look young at their old age and from the author description, MYC is one of them.

Too bad I can't find Bai Yi Yue and Riyu's ending. I hope they end up being together too.

[collapse]

And now what I dislike about this novel:

Spoiler
  • The conflict is almost repetitive. It's usually involved around man or woman who get jealous with MC/ML and almost all woman ends up being gang r*ped.
  • I wish Wanyan Jie doesn't have to die. He's just a little kid.
  • MC and ML is a bit surreal because they are too perfect, especially MC.
  • I'm still confused how ML fall in love for the first with MC. It's said during MC's performance in her home. Considering that they are from different country, what were ML doing in MC's home at that time?
  • ML requests marriage alliance to Xi Qi's princess in order to marry MC. But MC is only prime minister's daughter at that time. How is ML so sure that emperor will make FQQ a princess?
  • MC is well known as miracle doctor who produced many valuable pills but somehow she's powerless with ML's condition.
  • MC knows that there is a probability that she and ML are siblings but instead confronts and honestly tells ML the truth, she goes ahead with the wedding. Fortunately, ML is adopted. But what if that's not the case?

wow, it's been a minute. hi! *waves frantically* it's MiRA!

ok, so this book was like 208 chapters plus the extras, but boi oh boi did it feel like a lifetime. don't know whether that's a good or bad thing, but I definitely felt ~submerged~ if ya know what I mean. I didn't really hate anything, nothing extreme, I just felt a bit... odd? like, (oh god, my eyebrows are furrowing so much I'll Botox in the near future lol) some parts of the plot and characteristics of said characters... more>> made me just go ??? *insert that meme of the guy with a sh*t ton of question marks*

my rating is 4 stars but I probably might revise it to 3.5 stars just because... it was rushed? question mark? what's a girl gonna do, I was spamming the random novel finder for a nice, decent novel that would make good popcorn, so seeing a novel that was on the shorter side and was completed thrilled me. the bits that bothered me started with the beginning of the novel with the appearance of the crown prince of Xia-whatever, and that whole plotline.

Spoiler

I was looking forward to the whole prince-of-Qin nonsense and evolving characters, and WHY wasn't the guy from her past NOT the 'big boss'? the were so many repeat characters and personalities it was tiring : (

[collapse]

shoutout to jennamt4, she explained a lot of what I was feeling with the whole side-stories and whatnot. also, FL's beauty was her defining personality, ML had wasted potential (I think at least,) and the translator interrupted dialogue with the meaning of titles, repeatedly. usually, I don't hash it out on the TL, but I did get frustrated when I got lost several times in dialogue. further along, everything escalated and I think that this story could have ended much earlier.

xoxo, MiRA

Even for a Chinese revenge novel, the brutality and sadism in this novel is extreme. The violence is also so public that you would think that ancient China was utterly lawless. While most of these novels show the ugly hidden underbelly of imperial government and daily life, there's no underbelly here. It's right out in the open. Grotesque acts of violence take place at parties and on the street. The plot is also extremely shallow. A genuinely horrible novel, and I quit before the tagged r*pe took place (wouldn't have... more>> read at all if I'd seen that tag earlier). Just awful. If I could have given it a zero, I would have. <<less

The premise of this novel is very sterotypical. Everyone is OP and the fl, as usual, is an assassin fro the 21st century transmigrated to the ancient fantasy setting. However, while the premise is nothing special, I'm also not inclined to give it a 1 star. The author worked hard to write it and the translator worked hard to translate, and I feel it isn't appropriate to not appreciate that. Give credit where credit is due. (It's really, really bloody hard to get enough motivation to do either. It's really... more>> demotivating to get 1 star reviews too.)

Now the actual story:

The story is nothing particularily special; however, there are elements where you can tell were thought out before the novel was written. These thought out areas aren't really visible if you don't physically think about them though bc the damn jealous characters don't ever seem to die. I know they were kept alive for a reason which is relevant later, but...I they really are irritating.

There are plot holes, but there are also pieces of the novel that slot together like puzzle pieces, so it's not all bad. The main attraction to this novel really isn't the action though. If you're looking for an action series with a fl, this ain't it. This entire novel seems to spin around romance. ***This is a romance novel with elements of action and drama in it not an action and drama novel with elements of romance.***

Expectations shouls be lowered if you're throwing yourself into this novel with high expectations of the oncoming battle scenes.

Next, the characters. How to put it... beautiful female lead who runs this and that noble store and this and that assassination order and has this and that famous identity, pretty, skilled maids, devilishly handsome husband and almost all male characters falling at the fl's feet...I'm not the biggest fan. However the cast is big and while almost all males fall for this FL 'peerless' face, the cast is relevant and there are twists that are sorted through well enough to make it a good read as long as you aren't thinking about the logic behind it. Almost all mls fall for someone at first sight though so... keep that in mind. Character development is there, but the characters are still pretty one dimensional. There's the mysterious background of the main characters and the mu*derous character that try to kill the FL and the back-stabbing characters, but at least time there's the tiniest level of background to them, so it's not like they're pancake flat maybe waffle flat?

In the end, I keep bashing this story, but at the same time there are things that I did like. First of which has to be the darker elements of the story. I can't say much without giving stuff away, but the story delves into many different kinds of love be it obsessive love, in*est, violent love, r*pe, torture, true love, pure love, sacraficial love, sucidal love etc. Good story for a romantic to read. I couldn't care less about the cute and fluffy love between the FL and ml, but I adore reading about yandere and twisted kinds of love (I'm normal, I promise). Then there's the elements that many other authors wouldn't dare put in. Most of the darker elements revovle around familial ties though. I still think a majority of the characters are morons with holes in the heads for brains, but it's a nice read as long as you aren't using brain cells while reading.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Spoiler

This novel conveniently skips the first 5 years of her transmigration. So we totally miss her development process as she's learning to cultivate and become the boss of the assassination order and becoming the boss of this and that shop. I hate the development process, so it's great news for me, but maybe some of you like it.

[collapse]

What I didn't like about this story and what you should know before investing time and effort into reading:

There are time skips. I don't mean 5 years drifted by kind of time skips. I mean one chapter a character might have been released from prison and a few chapters later they describe the scene where the character is in prison. The transition is not done smoothly or necessarily in sequential order. It can confuse people plenty when they're skipping lines when they read.

The first half of this novel is palace in-fighting. Yeah, not all of it is, but most of the first half is almost of face-slapping and don't offend this person and can't recognise mount Tai and FL will someone manage to make connections with all the bigshots of the country despite being the rubbish daughter of the prime minister. The FL will offend her one dimensional, typical hole-for-brain sister and somehow weasel her way out of all problematic situations like a bear grapping a salmon. This drug and that drug will be used, aphrodisiac will be used to rain nectar on the wrong people etc. Again... I don't know why I chose to read this novel...I hate palace intrigue.

There's in*est. A lot of it. Not necessarily with brother and sister, but even marrying between cousins is uncomfortable. Now all this 'little cousin sisters' a throwing themselve at their 'cousin brother's bed' kind of makes me grimace.

Finally, there's convenience. The kind of convenience that seems to be used in novels just to piss readers off. People will conveniently survive a massacre that killed 100% of the rest of the group. People will somehow rise from the grave like freaking zombies popping out of the grass like daisies. Poison can be used to weaken characters to be killed off, so that a battle scene doesn't need to be written. The main character who came from the 21st century as an assassin would somehow have no trouble playing the guqin and sing beautifully. I can list the amount of people I know who can play the guqin on the fingers of one hand. None! The convnience of someone being able be picked up by some poison master who somehow has a connection to a character that appears later but also is able to master all poisons and is able to detect scentless, tasteless poisons.

Ok, that's all from me. I've obviously had a very frustrating time reading this. Good read, but it can be so painful to read sometimes. <<less

This is a great book. Quite a few books made me feel irritated due to their indecisive leads. This one has a much better warm romance element. The middle half story is more mushy feely than necessary but still doesn't make you feel bored. (assuming this genre is up to your liking).

Please do not judge a 200 chapter (with parts) book after reading a s*upid 28 pages. That's simply misleading others with a biased review.

As long as one likes this type of genre (female lead+ reincarnation) this one is... more>> a great binge choice. The ending is pretty good too! You may feel that a certain character acts controversial but still a great novel. Good pace, comedy, action, cunning stuff (atleast comparatively) and of course the romance elements (decisive). Only problem some may face is the mature theme in certain parts of the book (around 10 of those 200 chs).

Worth a read... <<less

Give 5 stars for the relationship of MC and ML, yes it's corny and cheesy mostly, but for me it's better than some relationship of MC and ML that's full of repeated missunderstandings between them. I like how in the end MC has almost all her loved ones safe (except that little one, everyone else is safe, but I guess if he manages to live and learn about everything, knowing to have such a pair of father-grandfather like that would not be better either). What's more to my likings, it... more>> is also show different outcomes of people around MC, usually it's only the MC who in the end has a happy ending, in this novel you'll find everyone will find their happy ending too.

Spoiler

Especially for Ming Yue Cheng, I really feel sad for him, but finally he got Feng Huang, truly so happy for him. He is the most genuine, well-behaved and kind-hearted love rival, so I really wish he has a good love life and thanking author for making it happen!

[collapse]

But, if you really plan to read this, please prepare for so many r*pe scenes, I skip most parts of it.

Spoiler

Also it has too many jealousy plot, I don't know why every girls in this story turn out to be a crazy jealousy girl over the ML, where all the other guys that infatuated at MC look less-extreme and most of them are good characters actually, but still the treatments all that jealousy girls got in the end is too much for me because mostly they died after being tortured sexually and being r*ped like I don't know how many times. As a female, I find it so hard to read it without being disgusted and angry. Just kill them from the start! Because they were not killed from the start, they always showing up again in another arch and the plot become repetitive.

[collapse]

Overall, the story is great because of the happy ending story of everyone, the mysteries and background stories beneath some characters explained well how they turn out to be, also I want to thank volare for giving a very good translation with many detail explanations of the words and idioms, without it, I can't imagine how I'll finish this novel.

If you're looking for a sweet romance and happy ending story with not too complicated plot (repeated plot) also able to close one's eyes to some scenes, I recommend this one. <<less

I almost dropped this series many times. Mainly because the Author really likes to mess with us. Many time its like really bad (the story). The story turns into something realllly awkward and something u just wish u could do something about. Ill give an example but its a spoiler.

My thoughts:

  1. I like the story, at first. After the ML and FL found out about their identity, no. Somehow it feels like I have found the meal in front of me is not surprising anymore.
  2. I love strong FL who isn't useless without the ML. (Wish I could be like that)
  3. I've learn the most important thing. Beauty is a sin. Having many rivals or enemy caused by beauty... Tsk tsk. I'm grateful for myself now.

I love this novel. Yes, it's pretty cliche for your normal trasmigrated OP female character, however the storyline is pretty stable so far. The villains have enough dept to be compared with the mains. And the romance is pretty good.

I currently read several ongoing and some completed translations in this category, and this novel is my most favorite from all. And for a less than 300chaps story, I have no bad remark at all..

I like our MC. The main couple is so cute together. The other side couples are cute too.

It's warming how they fall for each other, not for their looks. I ship them, but also felt hurt for the second ML.

Only two of all male charas are decent, the second ML, and the little emperor (unfortunately, our main ML is a big tank vinegar... hahaha). I love the story. I love twist in the ending. If there is a minus, hmm... why there is no side story about adult version of... more>> main couple's eldest son?? That super baby is a potential MC (maybe for sequel?). <<less

This is so cliche and trite from the first sentence I just cannot continue anymore. I am ok with cliche actually thats why I read web novels thats the defining trait is being nearly carbon copy of each other. But at the very least inject a little soul into the novel, dont just churn out paragraphs after paragraphs for that per character money! Everyone is so one dimensional and the plot is so boring this is such a waste of data.

After reading it for a while I have to agree with @midorimd all of the villains in this novel will fall in love with the main protagonist or the Protagonist love interest. It gets boring after a while revenge and jealous characters are everywhere but if your into that I would 100% recommend you read this.

Demon Wang's Golden Favorite Fei is a feel-good read much like a serial TV show - lots of thrilling events and well-paced progression for when you're in the mood for light reading. It's not great in the beginning, but when the plot starts moving and the male lead is introduced, the momentum carries it to greater heights. This story is a cut above the average historical transmigrated novel in that the writing is solid, the romance is extremely satisfying, and the events and encounters are quite fresh with little if... more>> no recycled content (other than the premise).

This story starts incredibly abruptly with an overpowered main character right off the bat. Murong Qi Qi has already reached the pinnacle of physical, medical, and economic strength before the story begins, but surprisingly the author is still able to deftly present believable challenges and obstacles that the MC must overcome. Mainly, these obstacles relate to personal relationships, politics, and love, all areas that the MC has absolutely no foothold in. Thus, this story's main conflict revolves around Murong Qi Qi finally casting aside her 'useless' side while rising to power socially and politically, while also achieving one of the purest and healthiest romantic relationships in any transmigrated noblewoman story thus far.

The main hook for this story is the romance. The two leads genuinely come to care and love each other, demonstrating their thoughtfulness and affection with each step of the way. The author has a very generous heart for the hero characters, allowing them to find people whom they can love and trust with their whole beings. I appreciate that the male lead is, so far, the only male lead of all the novels I have read to actually demonstrate healthy respect for the female lead and her wishes. He cherishes the female lead, never wanting to make her uncomfortable, and waits until she returns his feelings before lavishing her with physical affection. It is so rare to find a male lead who respects the female lead's consent that this treatment has pushed my enjoyment of the story to the maximum.

The author is very clever about this, however, by including various foils to this healthy relationship. All of the villainous side characters demonstrate tragic or vile relationships as a result of them using each other or falling prey to terrible oppressors. The author clearly wants to contrast the typical imbalanced power relationships of this world with the singular equal and harmonious affection of the two leads. It is clear that the two leads only have this kind of beautiful relationship because of their mutual respect and trust. It's a very successful move that, beyond raising up the leads, also colors the tragedy of the side characters whose hopes were dashed by arrogance and greed.

Overall, Demon Wang's Golden Favorite Fei starts with the same basic premise of a typical transmigrated noblewoman story, but quickly branches away into original territory with a well-planned if somewhat soap opera-esque plot. The author clearly has goals in mind, having laid a deep foundation of setting and history for the sake of revealing plot twists and "aha!" moments. It's an enjoyable and fresh read that I would recommend if you enjoy interpersonal drama and romance. <<less
