In less than an instant the world as we knew it was at its end.

That’s right. The Apocalypse. In a single blink Zombies appeared and mutated monsters began to rampage all throughout the world. Now it was the human species turn to fight for survival and planetary dominance!

On the same day that the world descends into chaos we meet Yue Zhong. Initially only hoping to get to his friends and escape to a refugee camp our protagonist sets out, inadvertently building a team along the way. After a series of fortuitous events and a few serious hunches our hero decides it’s time to do more than just survive!

Yue Zhong begins to form the foundations of an enormous survival plan… before he suddenly discovers that he has only gotten over the first hurdle…. Unbeknownst to Yue Zhong and company, the world outside of China is mostly a wasteland! Country sized swathes of nuclear radiation and an extreme shortage of supplies in the world after the nuclear explosions was quickly becoming the “norm”. Mutants, Evolved animals and what’s worse, intelligent out of control dinosaurs had quickly appeared and claimed their own sections of the planet. There were several innately powerful Evolved races which appeared that were more than 10 times stronger than humans, nearly all of them possessing bodies impenetrable by normal bullets. The fabled orcs’ were another of these Evolved races, the leader of which had in fact ens*aved many of the remaining human beings.

Unceremoniously exposed to such a cold and heartless new world, Yue Zhong is faced with a choice: Find a deep dark hole and hope it goes back to “normal”? Or overcome all obstacles and struggle towards Evolution!!!

Awesome story and truthful. This ia not recommended for those prideful woman out there.

The story talks about the hidden nature of humanity or lets just say for a man. well come on? you cant hate the author because he/she got a lot of sense.

Imagine your in that situation... accept the fact that when we are in desperate situation we can do unbelievable things you know..

This is just my opinion like who knows? I am just like a man too.. I like the story and the MC, very entertaining novel... more>> for those open minded out there. For those people that enjoy this novel you people are very intilligent that knows how to put their shoes in others <<less

As something different from your tipical zombie apocalipse story I think that is worth the shot. And if you like xinxia or similars I think you will like it also xd

Even so is important to know that not only is r18, the autor, from my point of view is not very concerned with politically correctness.

Love this novel, but I want to address some negative reviews. What is said is true, but don't hate on the author for the realism in the novel. Remember that its the "world" in the story that includes this sense of racism and nationalism and all that. Many authors deliberately include these aspects of reality in their novels to make it more realistic. Out of the many novels in wuxia there aren't many that include such a thing. This author is no different from those authors who want to be... more>> real. Even though a lot of people are over sexism, racism and all that today, don't forget they were still apparent in society beforehand and they are still part of reality.

Note that this novel has a freakin apocalypse happening. Obviously if the whole world turns to sh*t then you can bet that the bad parts of humanity are going to come out. If you are a little crybaby that can't handle realism then don't read this. r*pe is apparent, just like in the real world where stuff like this has and will continue to happen. Death, violence, racism, etc. are factors in this novel. If you wanna read a story that makes you feel good about yourself all the time then read any of the top 50 novels. But if you want a real story that makes you FEEL something, then read this. The women throw themselves at the MC (like most women would to all the strong mcs) and the MC takes advantage of it, nothing wrong with that. Women are also at times objectified as sluts, like the real world.

If you find the MC hypocritical then welcome to the real world where everyone is one, so what if he is?

People say that this story doesn't know what it wants to be. And yes, that's what it should be like, because an apocalypse hit and humanity pretty much sh*t their pants. MC has to kill a large number of zombies to level up? Laughable, of course he does. What are zombies? They ain't sh*t in this world, just read the description where it mentions mutants and dinosaurs. Biggest killer is other humans... No. Biggest killer to humans is other humans? No. The world just got wiped out by evolved races. But in such chaos do you really expect humanity to band together as one? The answer is no, because pretty much only China is left and China alone can't do anything against races that guns do nothing against. So, people will kill and do whatever it takes to get stronger and survive.

If you find the story repetitive, I'd still encourage you to stick around, because literally every novel will be like this. There is no story without a problem, and whether you find it repetitive or not, every single story will have another problem after the first and another problem after that problem. But isn't that what we love to read? Watching the MC wreck everything and solve one problem after the other till there are no problems left, till there are no bad guys or evil schemes left in the path of the MC.

Tl;Dr - the novel shows the reality of the world. Don't read any of the 1 star reviews because they don't know what they're talking about. The story is a very good one, and most of the 1 star reviewers can't handle it being so real since they just wanna read a story that can take them away from reality. I guarantee if you read this story the VERY LEAST you'll rate it as a 3 star, and that's only if you don't like a few plot holes. <<less

The story is pretty good, sometimes it gets you hyped and then you get some boring chapters but to my liking for the kingdom build tag, you can see that the necessary concepts are there for his "kingdom" to grow are there and the MC knows what hes doing (hes only f*cking with beautiful virg*ns except Zhou Yatong though the daughter would still falls his grasp). Only problem I can think of is that the author likes white bed sheets with red flowers and his blind trust that Chinese military... more>> is the best in the world and all officials are the best low-lifes out there. Overall though this novel is straight F*ckingtastic with blood.... from penetration. <<less

Amazing translation team! I've been following this ever since the first chapter and this novel changed hands multiple times hahaha. This novel is all about a world turned into an apocalyptic game world.

This novel involves deep racism towards races that are not Chinese, r*pe, harem, many undeveloped characters, impossible idealistic social/political structures, weird Chinese insults/sayings, Chinese nationalism, a lot of repetitive terms, and over-glorification of the main character. However, the way the novel is structured is pretty cool. I understand that the novel strays a bit away from its rpg... more>> elements to focus more on base and harem building. At the very least, the character is trying to build a place for people to live during apocalyptic times. He is doing what he (the author) thinks would be the best to do and not what everyone think is the best. By that fact, it makes this novel standout compared to many other World-turned-Game/Apocalypse themed novels. It is a very fun read. Love it or hate it, nothing can be perfect. At least give it a review, in order for the rest of us to get more bonus chapters to read! <<less

It's as if the novel doesn't have a clue what it wants to be. Initially the zombies were the big bad villains but this ain't walking dead with the leveling system eventually the zombies became an afterthought. MC doesn't even kill them because it would take a ridiculous number to level up. Then mutant beasts started to become large killers and even now have areas that they control completely but the humans have learnt to stay away from those places and also don't have any pet that could be mutated.... more>> The biggest killer of humans now is likely other humans. Treatment of support characters sucks as well, the novel gives you the name of every character that MC sees but doesn't actually give you any information about them.
Spoiler

Wheres yao-yao the little girl he saved? Where chen yao the previous mayors daughter? The assassin guy who cares for orphans? No character ever gets any form of progression Chi Yang his best friend is a glorified care taker who watches the house when MC goes outside, I assume his many gf's/s*aves's just wait in his bedroom for him to finish the days work. Even MC appears to regress as a person his original outlook being firm and determined to save his family and friends. At the time the university students were keen to try to use him but he was steadfast that saving family was important he saved Chi Yang & Lu Wen then just forgot about his parents. Lost the main thing that made him who he is.

[collapse]

Recommendation: For a slightly similar novel but done a lot better try 'change:new world' on royal road, a basic synopsis being that MC is a highschooler when the whole world changes, the school itself becomes a dungeon they can't escape from, it has a more natural feel and drama doesn't seem forced, really a must read <<less

It's a f**king trap!

You know, the community on NU here is sometimes really harsh. Before picking up a particular novel, I actually look at the diaspora of reviews listed by some of the people here, and when I began this novel, I read really rave reviews about it. So I thought to myself, "huh, gotta give this one a shot, it looks pretty awesome."

It took me only a few chapters of struggle to really get into it, and a 100 chapters or so I was already asking myself, "why... more>> the f**k am I reading this?"

But I still had faith in the readers here and sloughed on as a the 4 star rating shows that it probably gets better down the line as previously had a difficulty in getting into ISSTH, and that one turned out to be a gem in the end.

And slowly we hit chapter 300. And at this point the only thing resonating in my head was "NU reviewers are too vicious!" Like seriously, this is a novel that really f**ks with your head, and not in a good way. It has you questioning the IQ of the author, then the readers, then the masses who catered to this particular novel, and then finally yourself.

400 chapters, and we have finally found how deep the well goes. NO MORE. Like I gave it a try, I honestly did, no one can blame me for being prejudiced for making up my mind prior to ending this particular novel. So I stopped, and went onto the forums and discussions to see what everyone else is saying about this.

And slowly it started to become clear. When people asked for recommendations as to what their next reading novel should be, this was the one I saw recommended by a lot of people. And slowly it struck me.

The f**king ratings on this novel is a freaking trap. So all I can say at the end after falling for it head over heels is, "well played sir, well played indeed." <<less

To all of you who keep raving about sexism, nationalism, gore...

Where on Earth do you live if you can't imagine a world turning into something like described in this novel if something like this happened ?

I really want to know how sheltered and naive your lives are to be thinking that this is impossible to happen in such a situation. You keep saying the author is sexist and nationalistic...

Wake up people... The world is sexist and nationalistic. Bad people are everywhere and mostly what keeps them from... more>> taking out their urges everywhere is the fear of getting caught and when you have anarchy and an increase of power your dark side tends to creep out.

Take the blue pill and wake up and smell the coffee...

I really hate the five star review system would prefer 0-10 or 0-100 and would give it around 8+ or 85, but now I am forced to give it a 5... <<less

Things I like about the series:
- the world, the gaming system
- leveling which gives us kind of an idea the strength of the char
- different unique powers
- the different animal mutation (Pokemon!! :P)
things I don't like:
- how the s*x scenes are written (clearly coming from someone inexperienced)
Spoiler

been noticing a trend
- hero conquers city
- gets kidnapped by mutant beast
- kicks dictator in the taint
- hero conquers city
- gets kidnap

[collapse]

Hope this isn't a recurring trend. If so it will get old real fast. <<less

Not that OP MC (Relies alot on guns / heavy weaponry) in a Post-Apocalyptic world. Of course as all MCs he has "Plot Armor" but that is to be expected from allmost all stories.

The world itself is kinda intresting becaues everything is out to eat you to become Stronger and everything seems to do so at roughly the same rate giving people a chance to adapt (if they have the guts) this makes the story great in my opinion.

Its not a perfect story of course but if you like the... more>> Survival of the fittest kinda story with harem and zomies then this is for you! Allso MC does not turn totally evil and this is a plus for the story since there are plenty of Scum that dont have a bottom line that needs to be "taken care of". <<less

This story starts with your classical MC a student you would see anywhere, that learns to become a leader, it goes through the premise of a zombie apocalypse set forth by what seems to be a bored god that goes like "yeah, fight it out ants, game start", Yue Zhong our MC goes around leveling up then somehow getting a harem that he seldom talks to, luckily he learns about the ugly side of humans and gets it on with some girls along the way, put in a bunch of... more>> evolving zombies and random survivors going along for the ride.

In pros there is a good zombie LN that you can enjoy some classic dark story with a bit of harem and a leader MC that has the guts to conquer places and other 'places', we get a summon that somehow gets somewhat less word time in the LN, and a leveling system filled with some unfair themes to characters that matter less.

In cons we get some random thoughts on the author some small errors in sticking to the system and a loop of the MC getting girls and getting places for some-odd chapters.

Putting that aside, it's a good read to broaden your horizons on random zombie ideas, you can be critical on some points, bear in mind that it isn't greatly accurate when it comes to physics and such, best answer "magic". Has some social points that are fun to read like how the world might become in a lawless zombie world without trying to give us the clean view, just glossing over the sick stuff and showing a little puppy getting swarmed while some vile side-characters defile a few girls in the backdrop.

So yeah, there you have it, it's not for the faint of heart that like things clean or are highly judgmental about R and other immoral things. <<less

Well, to tell you the truth and make it short, I mostly like this novel because of the crude reality it shows, the progress of the character from a nobody to almost something similar to an almighty king, the strokes of good luck and misfortune of the MC, and the most important point, the fast paced translation, because without it I would be enticed to read the raws

The novel is amazing, maybe my opinion is somewhat conditioned by the fact that I love the zombie genre and badass MC.

And especially the fact that now the current translation group is amazing, as their translations are very good.

And most of the best is the fact that release many chapters a week, which means you can follow the story without way too setbacks.

This is a great novel! Author has portrayed the world realistically in case of a sudden Apocalypse. This is a dark and mature novel, not for "Sissy white knights" and righteous Japanese-MC lovers. People whine about racism and sexism, but honestly I haven't seen any racism in it. And sexism is a given in an apocalypse, cause it follows the law of the jungle, whoever has the biggest and strongest fist wins and makes the law. Our MC here is no hero, and can be quite a hypocrite, but he's just trying to survive like everybody else, he helps others when he can but don't go out of his way to do so. He don't look for trouble, but he don't shrink back if trouble finds him. The biggest plus to this story is a RPG like world, where you can level up, get skills, fight zombies, monsters and bosses. It's quite fun to read. The only problem I have is
Spoiler

They don't make use of the newbie village, which should be a priority in an RPG-esque apocalypse.

[collapse]
Side characters get enough screen time for a Chinese novel, as the main focus is the MC.
In short, I give it a solid 9/10. This is a great read guys, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

This novel definitely has a load of undesirable elements. Like a sh*t ton of racism, extreme sexism, and a ton of things people would consider disgusting. But what did you expect people. This is a dystopian novel. That means the story is about the fall of society. All dystopian novels have plots were the world goes to shit, and when the world goes to sh*t people develop shitty habits. If you dislike reading novels with these elements then please avoid this novel.

Love it! The translation speed is good, quick and reliable, characters in the story are perfectly flawed, fight scenes intense and the powerup system interesting! The story has a bad habit of cycling when it's clearly too far from ending thought and the author has the bad habit of occasionally neglecting a thing or two as well. All in all I think this deserves a 5 star rep! :)

Well I for one like this novel very much. MC worked very hard to become OP. He has a sizable harem. Story moves at a good pace. Author is very vell versed with weapons. Game elements are incorporated nicely. Even though its a bit racist and most of the women are treated as s*x toys (I repeat most not all), I still very much like this novel. I especially like ji qingwu character. Her personality. Her presence in it, and I guess she too has a crush on the... more>> MC. All in all its a good read <<less
