Similar to reincarnator, execpt without the poor logic that plagues the series. In reincarnator you could tell the author just pulled sci-fi nonsense to power up the main character. In King of The Battlefield the character follows a logic, and plans that are defined. Reincarnator just states the MC has a plan and never defines it in anyway. This is superior to reincarnator in every way.

However as I read farther the MC just collects more and more power ups... Yo author, you can't write a novel where the entire story... more>> is how the op MC becomes even more op. I guess you can, but it is seriously looking to me like the story is going no where.

Yep the story went no where. <<less

Reading the first few chapters were typical and you know that he has a cheat but once you read further and the details put in, the plot takes shape and begins to build it's uniqueness. Honestly I couldn't stop reading and anticipating the next chapters.

Okay, now that I read up to c90, I have to edit this review.

Everyone noticed that premise is quite similar to reincarnator, yeah? Well, the story isn't. I honestly couldn't figure out, is it more similar to Chinese ApocalipseRPG or korean VRMMO novel.

Up to chapter 90 I wasnt able to find traces of any plot, sadly. Main character is jumping from one secret trial to the other, receives one random overpowered reward after two from completely biased RPG System. Overall, novel seems pretty sketchy, will great calamity happen 5, 10... more>> or 20 years in the future? Law of solomon being controlled by 10 or 11 characters? And other slips. This is the type of novel that makes you understand how great reincarnator actually is. <<less

It's not as good as reincarnator. Firstly none of the characters except for MC are fleshed out in any way as opposed to Reincarnator where other people's personalities motivations and thoughts are described in detail. Here it's just a guy and a girl who are said to be "heroic" and "determined" but that's all. There is barely any dialogue at all and no internal thoughts. I think even if you put the MC of Reincarnator into this setting it would still be boring. If only the MC knows stuff and... more>> everyone else is an idiot the story would be very boring regardless of how smart the MC is. The powers are not as well described as Reincarnator - I think the ranking system in Reincarnator is better than the one here as well. It reads more like a solo adventure story, like a typical xuanxia novel, whereas Reincarnator has perspectives from multiple characters so it doesn't feel as limited. I also dislike the fact that the MCs death Lord power is governed by a guy who gives power to the undead based on how "artistic" his undead creation is. That sounds really subjective and I just don't like the idea of someone giving power to the MC based on how artistic the MC is. Also MCs thoughts are overly simplistic since he just wants to go at it alone and destroy the forest and save humanity and the way he goes about it is just collecting power ups whereas the MC in Reincarnator has thought things through much more thoroughly. Well we'll see later on if the MC has any other plans but so far it's just like a solo adventure story. After having read 37 chapters I don't think it's going to get any better. The way the story is written, the characters appear to be just bland and boring one-dimensional cardboard cutouts and it's unlikely that anything will change. So far everything is predictable and we can kind of guess what's going to happen and besides the predictability, the worse part is the lack of hope for the future. The MC is a loner which makes the story feel depressing and everyone other than him is an idiot. <<less

Better than some novels but I would still rate Reincarnator way above this one.

I'm not sure if this came before or after Reincarnator but it pretty much started exactly the same way, just that the background of the MCs are different. To start off, the way they are written is different. Basically, think of this as Reincarnator combined with Ark / LMS. This has a lot more focus on items and stats, the presence of secret classes, literal pop up screens of quests instead of fairies popping up and explaining... more>> stuff (which rarely happens in the chapters above 100).

The storytelling of both are pretty different as well. This one has a way more MMORPG feel which makes it feel way more constrained / linear while Reincarnator feels more random / freeflowing which makes it more believable.

The characters are very different as well. For this novel, the character freely kills people because his main goal is revenge. To kill the group which kidnapped him and brainwashed him, and which he eventually annihilated. If humanity is saved then it's pretty much just a possible result of him killing said group. As for Reincarnator, he can't freely kill people as he needs to be the role model for people (when it comes to the rules they've set in the past which he wants to establish in the present). Reincarnator's MC also has one goal. To give humanity a chance to win. All his plans, goals and actions are made in accordance to giving humanity that chance. He can't kill mindlessly since he needs to practice the rules which he is preaching and he can't save everyone since he is racing against time and because it's simply impossible.

As for the reviews of other people saying that the characters here are way better than Reincarnator, I can't help but to disagree. Why? Because the characters of Reincarnator show how much more dire their situations are and how desperate they are. True, at one point the presence of characters in Reincarnator which are spared / saved who end up almost screwing things up time and time again due to their greed / selfishness / cowardice gets tiring. However, that's comes with the whole apocalyptic setting. This novel is supposed to be the same but when you read this novel, it simply feels like a game. Reincarnator succeeds in making the reader actually believe that it's an adventure as well as a struggle which is set in an apocalyptic "universe".

I also have to be honest, the plot armor / power-ups given to this novels are ridiculous considering only 44 chapters have been translated.

To wrap things up, basically just an average novel for me. If you haven't read this as well as Reincarnator then I suggest reading this first (if you're really decided) but if you've read Reincarnator then I wouldn't really suggest reading this- unless you're a fan of MMORPG elements. That's Just my opinion though, since I like the more believable writing style of Reincarnator instead of the way more game-like writing style of this novel. <<less

Please don't waste your time on this authors masturbatory of MC's contradictory moral logic.

Firstly the MC wants to have a better life i.e 1.) Don't get controlled. 2.) Don't kill good people 3.) Don't be a mighty helping hand in destroying humanity.

Yay mate !! you got the complete guide of how ducked up the flow of your life is and given a chance to correct it. Now let's just throws the guide aways and give MC the thickest plot armour to fap on.

O you need to be necromancer, how cute... more>> !! I let you be death lord, (what ever the duck that is)

O you don't want to kill innocents, o sure! let a s*ave girl who ran away from her captor die GoT style brain crushed death to show how cold and intelligent you are.

Bu.. but.. he said he don't want to kill innocents and change his life? o it's fine all the people our MC kills are bad people since they killed someone/raped someone/ kidnaped someone, so he is good. (But our MC can kill a couple forced to enter killer competition yet still tried to help MC thinking that he is a good guy and Our MC can watch people die even if he can help).

This whole novel is hypocritical cupcakes... MC's policy is to get power cause he don't trust people, yet let strong people get stronger since they are good and can help people, yet let week people die since they are not strong enough to be.. well strong !!! duck it !!! total waste of time <<less

Like Reincarnator, horrendous writing, ponderous, long winded and vapid. Characters are dull like puppets and the MC is just the most clunky, mechanical piece of junk ever. Very little logic or rational thought in his actions, the author tries to make the MC seem cold and intelligent, but fails miserably, simply because of lack of quality of writing, making MC look like some edgy teen. Author takes pride in elaborating how badass MC is, except this just makes the story even more dull due to his "ruthless" attitude feeling so... more>> forced. Conclusion : plot is 3/10, barely passable.

MC is a 1/10, an edgy lil puppet, most readers do seem to like this though.

Writing is -10/10, my dog can write better because at least his writing doesn't give me a brain tumour. <<less

If you are looking for an MC that is soft hearted, kind and considerate to people (aka spoon feeds them), has strong morals to save people, takes mercy on his enemies, Likes to build friendly relations and strains the importance of trusting others, this is not the story for you!!!!!

What I like about this MC is his principles are consistently directed (the gist of them is to stop acting weak and get your crap together because no one is, especially the MC are gonna help you in this hellish... more>> world). He's consistent because he never discriminates against anything in terms of his principles (for example won't give a crap even if a person may be a hot chick, young or old, disabled, sick, just plain pitiful, surrendered enemy, unarmed enemy etc). I find that absolutely refreshing and like how his morals aren't applied so shallow, like how some other characters who are written to be cold-hearted, but their actions always show softhearted and naivety. AND it's also a plus that the reason he kills a lot and is ruthless is not because his mind is a kill-driven fanatic/psychopath. He does it because he is just a realist and not some idealistic nor righteous moron. <<less

King of the Battlefield is a great story!

- Story
The story revolves around a ruthless assassin who has time traveled back to his younger self following his death. He also happens to be a person who had been transported to a different to fight against Demon Gods. The plot is great, it is to the point and is fast paced. There is no useless and boring chatter and unneeded explanations in the story. The story also has game elements with status menus, quests, rewards and stuff. There is a lot... more>> of action, along with the desire to avoid calamity to the world brought by the Demon Gods while taking down the humans whose actions accelerates the process.
In Korean novel terms it could be said to a mixture of The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor x Reincarnator.
In Chinese novel terms it could be said to be a mixture of Tales of Demons and Gods x Peerless Martial God x Shen Yin Wang Zuo without the romance part.

- MC
The MC having being transported back in time after his death has a vast quantity of knowledge having had studied the life stories of the countless people he had killed. Thus he is extremely knowledgeable regarding the places of treasures ahead of time (much like Nie Li from TDG). He uses this knowledge to his immense advantage, which gives him his OP countenance.
The MC is also extremely ruthless and doesn't care much about anyone else. He likes to keep quiet mostly and pursue single mindedly to increase his cultivation. He is more of an anti-hero who is anti-social. He doesn't even blink when a pretty woman basically throws herself at her and threatens to kill her if she bothered him again. So romance is not a part of this story so far.

All in all, if you like a good action novel, this is a recommended read! Enjoy!

Rating
Plot: 9.6/10
Characters: 8/10
Action: 9.9/10
Translation: 9.8/10

Really enjoying this. It's basically the exact same synopsis as Reincarnator without the ridiculous MC and confusing plot lines (so far). We've got a cold and calculating master assassin who finds himself transported 40 years into the past following his death. He then sets off to change his life and use his knowledge of the future to become OP.

There aren't very many chapters yet, but so far I like the direction the story is headed. Looking forward to a continued read!

CHAPTER 5

Amazing story similar to Reincarnator but less confusing in the game system. MC is not pushover, dickless, wuss or wimp, and he doesn’t mind killing people if they get in his way, post a danger to him or become a dangerous existence. Overall it's very interesting, waaa waiting for more.

Simply put, this is an abandoned novel. The author was writing it well until the early 200's then suddenly started wrapping it up out of nowhere, and didn't even really finish it either by the end. Pretty much a waste of time to pick this one up, despite the fact it is pretty good for the first 200 chapters. It is no wonder the original translator stopped translating around that point, they must have realized they wasted their time on an abandoned novel. Give me my time back NU, this... more>> should be marked abandoned. <<less

Im not gonna add some spoiler, lets just say that its one of those good reincarnated MC novels. MC is cold, smart, you can say that he has all the personality that a person needs to survive in an a apocalyptic place.

The main things that I love about the novel is that the MC is not a naive piece of shit.

it's a bit early to judge this, but wth

story wise, it's like reincarnator, but better imho
it's a re-do again story, MC is OP, have cheat etc etc
he is also cold but not quite overbearing or righteous
it is yet to see but the plot armor seems to be quite thick in this one, but not overly so
MC also interacts and give chance to weak people, and he doesn't push them out of his plans but rather implementing them to his plans somewhat

accidentally cl**ked 5 due... more>> to excitement, meant to give 4 (because it's still early) but wth it deserved that rating too <<less

It is dark. It is bloody and ruthless. It is unforgiving. It is full of mistrust and betrayal in order to survive and rule supreme!!! Not for wussies who can't handle death of innocents and dark spooky ass stuffs. ;3 but if you are a hardcore badass motherf*, then this is a story for you! MC is great! He is ruthless but not an as*hole or too nice. He will help those who seek to live and disgust those who are leeches. The story can be a bit deep but... more>> not to the point it can confuse you. <<less

This is really good. In most of the korean novels with time travel genre, they usually know everything and only rarely, does an unexpected event occur. But in this novel, the world seems to be much more vast and the potential seems to be more endless. Like the demon lords, MC doesn't know much about them. The unexpected good fortunes, new powers, new journey, this is a great novel, and I really recommend it to anyone that wants to have a good read. Well, the updates are getting a bit... more>> slower, even going to once a month, so I hope the translator can make the updates a little faster, otherwise this novel will likely not finish anytime soon. <<less

(WARNING, SPOILERS!)

Whoo! Review again!

I'm glad to say that this is in fact a novel I am enjoying.

... more>> I'll admit that it's a bit tedious and trope-filled with the fact that he's insanely overpowered, but then again that's probably my only problem with this.

First of all!

The protagonist is f*cking awesome. He doesn't give a sh*t and will kill anyone who gets in his way, he is literally in a fight for survival. Of course, he was reborn and had his 40 years of experience to help him, which does in fact make him overpowered. But, the book emphasises that this is his advantage even if he has nothing.

I find it quite enthralling that a protagonist isn't using some weird cheat.

Secondly, the book isn't a "Oh, here's the protagonist, and now here's the other people and back to the protagonist!" It's consistent.

I frankly hate it when books need to make sure that you must know something completely different when it's completely f*cking ages away from the protagonist.

In other words, it's immersive.

Thirdly, the book wastes no time, there seems to be no fillers, no actual random relationships which spark out of nowhere and no shits which just throw everything off path. It is dynamic and as soon as you begin the first chapter, there's already fighting!

Fourthly! I've never used that before. The other characters are full of depth. Suzy for example, a weak little girl who you'd probably expect to die within the first chapter possesses a class that's rare! She is surviving on an ability that makes others care. The... guy whose name is too long for me to write, he's a leader who is struggling to maintain power.

Of course, there's a few more... who die.

Finally! Everything is all about a system and characters. If characters don't adapt to a system, they are going to die, those who do are also going to die because the system is about killing. The protagonist has had 40 years of experience and understands the system... almost thoroughly. And because of that he makes shrewd decisions and survives!

Well, it's short, but hey, it was a good one.

And you know what?

Five f*cking stars, that's what! <<less

This Story is great and deserves to be translated fast and fully because is an Awesome action packed adventure with endless potential and incredible character and world building.

An Excellent and Gripping Story the beginning section of this Novel that has already been translated is perfect. It has all the aspects of an excellent Survival/Apocalypse/Evolution/Game-Element Novel with the always interesting back-in-time/Do-over aspect and is similar to the other Excellent Novel 'Reincarnator' with the MC being able to go back to when his survival story began and use his knowledge to become... more>> even more powerful and awesome. (Thankfully The MC is cool-headed and intelligent, so far NOT annoyingly falling for a flowery idol girl character or getting distracted from his goals to play around like the MCs in too many other novels.)

With Demons and Magic and Monsters and Evolution this story is worth even more than 5 stars. <<less

I cannot differentiate between Kang Hansoo and Muyoung, just like how I cannot differentiate most of the Xianxia MCs. Super OP thanks to future knowledge, super driven to achieve human unification (more on Hansoo side, Muyoung is more driven in victory) and total victory, both came back from the future to have a do over, both are realistic and will kill without hesitation once justified (not like a certain white hair japanese punisher and most xianxia MCs), both are nannies to their people, I am SUPER Serious on that part.

Fight... more>> scenes are swift and it is somewhat disappointing, yet understandable as Muyoung is just that good in killing. It can easily be called the twin of Reincarnator if not for some things like how Muyoung is the King of some barren land and he (Hansoo as well perhaps) is warming up to people. The bads are that it is like watching the expendables fast foward and you will not be missing much, human interactions often ended up in cold shoulders or corpses.

It is good, just not so good in the plot, too much blanks to fill and repetition may be expected. <<less

I guarantee both new and experienced readers will be refreshed by thos novel. At the beginning it looks like typical reincarnation series with revenge and becoming strongest as the goal. But it isn't as simple as that.

This series is not a progression log journal type of rpg novel like re: monster or kumo nani. It's much much better than that shit. With his past memories, MC knows a lot of secrets like hidden treasures, secret jobs and suchs. Reader would expect MC would get what was stated in the foreshadowing,... more>> but author would surprise us by making different result with what was expected/stated before. In a sense, the plot can be a bit unpredictable and fun to read. MC is a total cold-blooded badass ex-assassin. Even though he reincarnated to his past self, his mentality doesn't regress to his younger self. So no harem making and fanservice whatsoever. There will be multiple cases where you'll thought that some new characters will follow the MC, but they will end in Game of Throne's plot style. Many people would compare the MC with Dungeon Defense's MC, and I DO SEE SOME SIMILARITY aside from Dantalian's lust. Both are cunning and cruel which is really good. All in all this is a MAN'S novel, not a boy's novel. So get the f*ck out if you're a pe*verted teenager with raging boner. <<less
